About Albert Sommers

Albert Sommers has lived on a Sublette County ranch all of his life. All four grandparents were early homesteaders in the Green River Valley. Sommers attended high school in Sublette County and graduated with honors from the University of Wyoming in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. After university, he returned home to help run the family ranch.  Albert and his family have been awarded several conservation awards, including the 2012 Wyoming Leopold Conservation/Environmental Stewardship Award, the 2013 Landowner of the Year Award from the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the 2012 Outstanding Contributions to Sage Grouse Initiative, the 2019 Kurt Bucholz Conservation Award from the Wyoming Stock Growers Agricultural Land Trust, and the 2022 National Private Lands Fish and Wildlife Stewardship Award from the National Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies.
